Wonderful Dog Training.... Relationship training for you and your dog...

About me...

My name is Marilyn Jamison, and the picture at the top right of the page is me (some years ago) and my dog, Ricky.  It is one of my favorite pictures because it shows the love and the strong bond that can exist between us and our dogs.  The picture at the top left is of another one of my wonderful dogs, Friend Benjamin Bernard, CDX.  While he was not my first dog, he was the dog that got me into formal obedience training and obedience trials.  We trained to the UDX level, but he passed away suddenly from a gastric torsion before we could formally achieve the title.

So sadly, Ricky and Benny are both gone now, but they and all the special dogs who have shared my life live on in my memories, my heart and my training programs.  Each wonderful dog has taught me much and it is my pleasure to share that joy and knowledge with others.

My methods are based on respect and understanding for both you and your dog.   My experience and training with wild canines has taught me much about the natural behaviors of dogs.  While those behaviors have been changed over the centuries by selective breeding and association with people, our dogs who share our lives still behave in many of those same ways.

Canine behaviors can be separated into two categories:  competitive and cooperative.  The competitive behaviors often get our dogs into trouble while the cooperative behaviors are those that make them a joy to live with.  My training techniques center around discouraging the unwanted competitive behaviors and encouraging the cooperative behaviors.

Confrontational training methods can create and heighten tension and cause more problems between you and your dog.  I believe in using methods that actually reduce the confrontations and the tension, thus encouraging your dog to please you.

While it is important for your dog to learn that you are the "leader of the pack," leadership is about much more than just dominance.  To learn more, bring your dog to Wonderful Dog Training!

My training programs suit your needs.  All breeds, all sizes are welcome.  Classes are small, well organized, and everyone gets their share of individual attention.  If you prefer private training, that can be arranged too.
